Job Description


The purpose of this role will be to develop, evolve, and maintain a cloud-centric data science hub as well as satellite tools and environments. You will have the freedom and autonomy to decide the methods and leading-edge technologies to utilise in what is a critical and new business area.

Working in a small and highly skilled team this role will allow you to grow and develop within a boundaryless environment. You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects which will have a critical impact within the world’s most sustainable industry.


· Responsible for experimenting with and implementing machine learning frameworks for data science/machine learning development and operations

· Responsible for learning, operating, evolving, contributing to, and maintaining BXB bespoke frameworks that support the BRIX system (such as specific data pipes)

· Responsible for rigorous testing of framework robustness and scalability

· Liaise with Brambles Cloud Team to understand Brambles-wide cloud standards and policies and ensure compliance

Skills and Knowledge

· Have worked autonomously and delivered results on schedule

· Knowledge of major devops/dataops frameworks and methods

· Very strong analytical skills, system thinking, and mathematical/scientific thinking

· Strong programming skills in addition to operational skills a plus (ideally in one or more of the following languages: Python, Go, Julia, or C/C++)

· Attention to big picture and details

· Multi-tasking

Experience in some of the following areas:

· Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery

· Experience operating, optimising, querying, and administering databases (such as Postgres, TimescaleDB, etc.)

· Comfortable using and working in a polyglot computer language environment (Python, Go, Julia etc.)

· Experience with Amazon Web Services (S3, EKS, ECR, EMR, etc.)

· Experience with containers and orchestration (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, containerd)

· Experience with Big Data processing technologies (Spark, Hadoop etc)

· Experience with interactive notebooks (e.g. JupyterHub, Zepellin)

· Experience with Git Ops style automation

· Experience with *ix (e.g, Linux, BSD, etc.) tooling and scripting

· Programming experience with Python, C, C++, Go, Julia, JavaScript or other languages

Beneficial Experience:

· Research or work experience in a data science engineering and frameworks.

· Software development experience
