PHP Developer - Glasgow, Scotland

• Deliver PHP-based solutions within the backend of infrastructure
• Contribute to technical design decisions that impact products
• Contribute towards end-to-end feature development with product owners, QAs, product management, and DevOps
• Conduct code reviews of your peers’ work and provide constructive feedback
• Contribute to codebase quality by writing unit and functional tests, maintaining them, and seeking quality improvements
• Be part of a cross-functional agile team
• Identify issues, improve the product, and fix bugs as they are reported and assigned
• Provide regular progress updates on development activities
• Mentor and assist engineering colleagues

• At least 7 years software engineering experience working on enterprise software
• At least 4 years of commercial PHP experience using at least one modern PHP framework such as Symfony or Laravel, in either a full-stack application or a stateless API and at least one modern ORM (Doctrine or Eloquent)
• A proven experience building robust, error-checked REST APIs that expose JSON resources
• Demonstrable knowledge of modern relational databases such as integrity constraints, indexes, and foreign keys
• A proven grasp of object-oriented programming paradigms
• A good understanding of data structures and algorithms, how they scale, and their space and time trade-offs
• Experience with source control such as Git
• Ability to work effectively with remote colleagues
