Quality Improvement Director

Coordinates the regulatory compliance program to meet the standards identified by TJC, DPH and CMS.

• Oversees a comprehensive risk management program in efforts to improve the safety of patients, visitors and employees. Makes recommendations for performance improvement activities related to medical safety.

• Oversees reporting of events as required by regulatory agencies. Coordinates the occurrence incident reporting system in compliance with regulatory agencies and hospital policy. Manages the process for sentinel events, SSE, ACA and RCA.

• Coordinates medical malpractice defense litigation through liaison with insurers and outside defense counsel. Assures the maintenance of an accurate file of claim investigation and legal defense.

• Oversees the infection control program to insure practice is consistent with regulating bodies.

• Facilitates organizational development teams to ensure their success in achieving the objectives of the Quality Improvement Department.

• Provides feedback to the team members, educates the team in the CQI/TQM tools, and identifies the resources available for the team.

• Designs and implements the evaluation of the facilitation process and assists Quality Improvement in designing the quality curriculum.

• Functions as an expert resource for the organization to contribute to the establishment of internal capabilities for on-going redesign and re-engineering efforts. Establish and maintain a “best practice” database.

Minimum Requirements:

• Master’s Degree related to a healthcare field required.

• 5-10 years experience in a senior clinical leader position with a strong foundation in quality and patient safety. Hospital experience preferred. State/Federal Mandated Licensure or Certification Requirements: As required in the performance of the position.

Fire/Safety/Infection Control annually. Other programs as mandated by Hospital.

Special Requirements: Three to five years project management experience following a participative management approach, group process and CQI team function experience.

Understanding of federal, state and local regulations and laws related to healthcare.

Physical Requirements: Prolonged sitting at a desk and/or computer terminal.

Work Environment: Typical business office environment. Other Requirements: Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to present data to clinicians and staff at all levels of the organization. A highly skilled change agent with demonstrable sensitivity to the interpersonal group dynamic, organizational, political and perceptual issues associated with change.

Results orientated leader accompanied by the skill set required to conceptualize, implement, and operationalize a user-friendly clinical excellence and patient safety program.

Demonstrated ability to create and sustain momentum through relationship building and collaborative management.
